This journey takes you through two UNESCO Global Geoparks of Viet Nam, showcasing some of the country’s most unique and spectacular landscapes.
Ha Giang – Dong Van Karst Plateau is renowned for its dramatic limestone cliffs, terraced rice fields, winding mountain passes, deep valleys, colorful ethnic markets, and rich hill-tribe cultures.
Ban Gioc Waterfall, located in Cao Bang, is the largest and most stunning waterfall in Southeast Asia, creating a breathtaking natural masterpiece.
Day 1 : Ha Noi – Ha Giang – Quan Ba
Meals: Lunch, Dinner/ Accommodation: Bungalow in Nam Dam village
07:30 AM: Your private car and tour guide pick you up at your hotel in Ha Noi. Drive approximately 6 hours (330 km) to Quan Ba, enjoying scenic views of peaceful countryside, tea plantations, rivers, and mountains along the way.
– Lunch at a local restaurant en route.
– Continue driving on winding mountain roads to Quan Ba Heaven Gate, where you can stop to admire and photograph the famous Twin Mountains (Fairy Bosom).
– Trekking about 2 hours from Quan Ba Heaven Gate down to Nam Dam Village, passing terraced hills, lush fields, and traditional Dao houses.
– Dinner and overnight at a Dao ethnic homestay. Enjoy conversations with your friendly hosts to learn about their lifestyle, customs, and culture.
Day 2: Quan Ba – Yen Min – Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River – Meo Vac
Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/ Accommodation: Hotel in Meo Vac
Today you travel along the legendary Happiness Road, crossing four districts: Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac. You will explore the Dong Van Karst Plateau, where nearly 80% of the area is covered by limestone formed over 400 million years ago. The scenery is truly majestic, featuring dramatic cliffs, terraced rice fields, winding passes, and deep valleys.
– After breakfast, drive through winding and curving mountain passes with spectacular views, including famous sections with three consecutive bends and nine consecutive bends.
– Stop at the Moon Stone Field, a strange and impressive rocky landscape.
– Visit the H’Mong King’s Palace, an approximately 100-year-old architectural complex blending H’Mong, Chinese, and French styles.
– Lunch at a local restaurant and pass through Dong Van town.
– Drive along the Ma Pi Leng Pass (20 km), known as the King of Passes in Viet Nam.
– Trekking along the Sky Path, the most dramatic and scenic trail on the Dong Van plateau, offering expansive views over Tu San Canyon and the Nho Que River far below.
– Take a boat trip on the Nho Que River, cruising through Tu San Canyon – the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia – surrounded by towering cliffs.
– Dinner and overnight in Meo Vac town.
Day 3 : Meo Vac – Me Pja ( 14 levels ) Pass – Cao Bang
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/ Accommodation: Hotel in Cao Bang
– Breakfast and check-out.
– Visit Meo Vac Sunday Market (only on Sundays), a vibrant gathering place for ethnic minorities such as the H’Mong, Dao, Giay, Lo Lo, and Tay, dressed in colorful traditional costumes.
Note: If the Sunday market is missed, another local market can be arranged depending on your departure date.
– Say farewell to Dong Van Global Geopark and drive along National Road 34 to Cao Bang Geopark, passing pine forests and ethnic villages.
– Lunch at a local restaurant.
– Visit Me Pia 14-Level Pass, a lesser-known but spectacular mountain pass famous for its dramatic curves. Hike up to the viewpoint for a panoramic view of the entire pass.
– Continue driving on National Road 4A, enjoying views of green forests and terraced fields.
– Check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner in Cao Bang City.
Day 4 : Cao Bang – Ban Gioc waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Lang Son – Ha Noi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch/ Accommodation: Not included
– Breakfast and check-out.
– Drive approximately 90 km to Trung Khanh, enjoying the stunning landscapes of Cao Bang Global Geopark (UNESCO-recognized in 2018).
– Visit Ban Gioc Waterfall, a magnificent natural masterpiece and the largest waterfall in Southeast Asia.
– Explore Nguom Ngao Cave, stretching over 2,144 meters underground and filled with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.
– Lunch at a local restaurant.
– Drive back to Ha Noi via Lang Son Province, passing scenic areas such as Dong Khe and That Khe Pass.
– Drop-off at your hotel in Ha Noi. Tour ends.
