Day 1: Ha Noi – Mai Chau
Meals: Lunch, Dinner/ Accommodation:Private room in a local homestay (Mai Hich)
– Your private car and English-speaking tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi.
– Depart for Mai Chau via Highway 6 (approx. 140 km), passing green rice fields, sugarcane plantations, cassava farms, and orange orchards.
– Stop at Thung Khe Pass to admire the stunning mountain scenery and observe daily life of the Muong ethnic people.
– Visit Mai Chau Flag Point for a panoramic view over the beautiful Mai Chau Valley.
– Upon arrival, enjoy a 1.5-hour walking tour through peaceful villages with rice fields, traditional stilt houses, and local people weaving clothes and scarves.
– Drive about 10 km to Mai Hich, a quiet and less-touristy area known as the “backyard” of Mai Chau.
– Check in at your homestay and enjoy lunch.
– In the afternoon, take a leisure walk or cycling tour through nearby villages (Ban Hich – Ban Den – Ban Ngoa – Sam Khoe – Ban Buoc).
Along the way, admire towering limestone mountains, rivers, green fields, and suspension bridges. You will see Thai people farming, fishing, feeding buffaloes, and living in traditional stilt houses.
– Return to the homestay for dinner and overnight with your friendly Thai hosts.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Pu Luong – Tam Coc
Meals : Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/ Accommodation : Bungalow in Tam Coc
– Wake up to fresh mountain air and enjoy breakfast at the homestay.
– Check out and drive to Pu Luong Nature Reserve via a breathtaking mountain road with spectacular scenery.
– Start trekking from Don Village to Uoi Village, passing Lan Village, famous for its magnificent terraced rice fields and traditional villages.
This trek offers insight into the daily life of the Black Thai people, well known for their traditional handloom weaving.
– Transfer by car to a suspension bridge over the Cham River. Walk along small trails through rice fields to visit bamboo water wheels, a clever traditional irrigation system used to bring water to rice fields without human effort.
– Lunch at a local restaurant.
– Enjoy bamboo rafting on the Cham River, learning how to paddle and steer handcrafted rafts while admiring the surrounding mountains.
– Drive approximately 140 km to Tam Coc (Ninh Binh).
– Dinner and overnight in Tam Coc.
Day 3 : Mua Cave – Tam Coc – Bich Dong – Ha Noi
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch / Accommodation: not included
– After breakfast, explore Mua Cave, considered the most beautiful viewpoint in Ninh Binh.
Hike up 458 stone steps to the Dragon Mountain summit for a breathtaking panoramic view of Tam Coc, limestone peaks, and lush valleys.
– Enjoy a cycling tour around Tam Coc, Lotus Valley, and Sunshine Valley, biking through rice paddies and rural villages to discover authentic Vietnamese countryside life.
– Have lunch at a local restaurant.
– After lunch, take a rowing boat trip (2 people per boat) to explore Sunshine Valley, a hidden gem away from the crowds.
The boat trip lasts about 1.5 hours, passing peaceful rivers, limestone mountains, tranquil valleys, and two cool, calm caves.
– Visit Bich Dong Pagoda (Jade Cave), a complex of three pagodas (Lower, Middle, and Upper Pagoda) built on the mountainside, and learn about Vietnamese Buddhism.
– Drive back to Hanoi. Tour ends.
